Urban Acupuncture
The aim of this project is to build a public space network that integrates the elements of the ecological structure, provides solution to inhabitants needs and also increases resilience towards climate change.
The portfolio mainly consists of three parts.By situating in Bogota,we investigate the current conditions and urban tissues of the neighborhoods in Tunjuelo watershed, analyse the physical and social characteristics of the neighborhoods and its surrounding open spaces. Then we come up with ‘urban acupuncture’ as our manifesto, which means to use small-scale, low-cost urban design interventions, involving improvement in quality of local public space and ecology. The strategies use targeted interventions to address ecological and social issue in both landscape and neighborhood scale. Those interventions include integrating local parks to neighborhood social
ties, increasing accessible recreation spaces, improving infrastructure, encouraging forestation, enhancing safety, bringing back street life, increasing the share of bicycle riders, etc. All of these contribute to configure a new ecological and sustainable development as well as revitalize the urban form for the area.
